Tumor detection with PET Probes ®

Bring the Power of Molecular Imaging into the Operating Room

Various radio-isotopes with high specificity for cancerous tissue, such as FDG (fluorodeoxyglucose), are readily available for PET (positron emission tomography) imaging.  If the tumor appears on a whole-body PET scan, the hand-held PET Probe assists the surgeon in localizing the tumor intra-operatively.  This is especially helpful if the tumor is not readily visible or palpable during surgery.

Now, it is possible to take advantage of this technology in the operating room, where it is critical to find ALL of the cancerous tissues. IMI’s patent protected  PET-Probe ® enables in-vivo characterization of tissues using molecular imaging tracers.
